Getting started with the FIRST LEGO League MASTERPIECE Season

Are you ready for an exciting journey into the world of robotics, innovation, and collaboration? The FIRST LEGO League MASTERPIECE season is now in full swing, and at Learnit & CreativeHUT, we've been hard at work making it easier for teachers and youth workers to lead these programmes in their schools and youth organisations.  In this blog post, we'll share some of our highlights from this month:

Red Envelopes: Your Guide to Success

We understand that starting with the FIRST LEGO League programme can be overwhelming. That's why we've launched our "Red Envelopes" containing critical information about the programme and the MASTERPIECE season. Look inside these envelopes for your guide to valuable resources to help you navigate the programme with ease.

Empowering Girls with Robotics

We believe in the power of STEM education for all. We recently conducted four day-long workshops in partnership with the Irish Girl Guides, introducing over 100 girls across Ireland to SPIKE Prime robotics and the FLL Challenge programme. We want to say a special thank you to Professor Deirdre Butler and Dublin City University’s Institute of Education for making this possible with the support of funding from the Higher Education Authority. This experience was a stepping stone towards inspiring more girls to explore the world of robotics and engineering.

STEAM Meath: A Partnership with Meta

We were thrilled to announce the launch of the STEAM Meath programme this month, fully funded by Meta. This initiative allows us to run workshops in primary and secondary schools, promoting Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) education. It's about igniting curiosity, sparking innovation, and preparing the next generation for a bright future.

Growing Our Network

Our commitment to expanding the FIRST LEGO League community is unwavering. We provided training to volunteers from Janssen Sciences who will support the Irish Girl Guides’ FIRST LEGO League programme in Cork. We introduced WeDo and SPIKE Essential robotics and the FIRST LEGO League Explore program to new leaders from the Irish Girl Guides. We also met with the Dean of Engineering and Computing at Dublin City University to discuss a promising new partnership, engaging their faculty and students in the FIRST LEGO League Challenge programme.

Building the Foundation

In consultation with the official delivery partners for the UK and Ireland, the Institution of Engineering and Technology, they’ll soon kick off the pre-programme evaluation process to ensure that we continue to refine and improve our offerings in Ireland.

The FIRST LEGO League MASTERPIECE season is in full swing and we are dedicated to making it an unforgettable learning experience for all involved. Join us in this fantastic journey of innovation, creativity, and collaboration!
